Whether you’re starting from scratch, preparing for a move or trip, using French professionally, working toward an exam, refining your pronunciation, or simply looking to speak with greater ease and confidence, every lesson is designed around what matters most to you.
After booking, you’ll complete a short questionnaire so we can match you with the Hello French teacher whose experience, teaching style, and availability best fit your needs.
Each 60-minute live lesson combines conversation, pronunciation, practical language, cultural context, and personalized feedback, with every session adapted as your French develops and your goals evolve.

Booking Policies
Teacher matching
After purchase, you'll complete a questionnaire about your level, goals, and availability. Please submit it within 7 days. You’ll receive your teacher match and booking link within 10 days of submitting your questionnaire.
Scheduling
Each lesson is 60 minutes and is booked through your teacher's scheduling page. Zoom sends your confirmation and lesson link automatically.
Validity
Your first lesson must take place within 14 days of receiving your teacher match. The 4 lesson package must be completed within seven weeks of your first lesson, the 8 lesson package within twelve weeks.
Rescheduling and missed lessons
To reschedule, email classes@hellofrenchnyc.com and your teacher at least 24 hours before your lesson. The new lesson must take place within 14 days of the original appointment, subject to availability. Lessons canceled with fewer than 24 hours notice and missed lessons are forfeited.
Number of students
Pricing is listed for one student. If you'd like to learn with another person, contact classes@hellofrenchnyc.com before purchasing.
Refunds and credits
Private lesson purchases are final and nonrefundable. If we cannot provide a viable teacher or schedule after exploring alternatives, you may choose a full Hello French credit or a refund.

Private lessons are designed for adults aged 18 and over at every level, from complete beginner to advanced.
They’re particularly useful if you have a specific goal, want individual attention on your French, need a schedule with more flexibility, or prefer learning one on one.
No. Complete beginners can book directly.
If you’ve studied French before and aren’t sure of your current level, we recommend taking our free French Level Test before purchasing. You’ll also complete a questionnaire after booking so we can understand your goals and match you appropriately.
Your lessons can focus on conversation, pronunciation, listening, grammar, reading, writing, professional French, exam preparation, travel, cultural fluency, or a combination of several areas.
Your teacher will shape the lessons around your priorities and adapt the focus as your French and goals evolve.
After purchasing, you’ll complete a questionnaire about your level, goals, interests, learning preferences, and schedule.
We’ll use your responses to match you with the Hello French teacher whose experience and availability best fit your needs.

If, after your first lesson or at any point during your package, you feel another teacher might be a better fit, simply email us at classes@hellofrenchnyc.com. We’ll review your request and, whenever possible, rematch your remaining lessons with another Hello French teacher, subject to availability.
Completed lessons cannot be refunded or reassigned.
Yes. You can share your preference in the questionnaire and we’ll take it into account during the matching process.
Most private lessons are taught by the Hello French teaching team and matched according to your level, goals, learning style, and availability. As an enrolled Hello French student, you’ll also receive access to selected live Drop-ins with Cécilia created exclusively for our students.
If you’d like to work directly with Cécilia, you can book private lessons with her separately. Book a lesson with Cécilia here or, if she’s fully booked, join her waitlist if no appointments are currently available.
You’ll receive your teacher match and booking link within (10) ten business days after submitting your questionnaire.
Once your match is confirmed, you’ll receive access to your teacher’s scheduling page.
You can choose from their available appointment times, and Zoom will send your confirmation, lesson link, calendar information, and reminders automatically.
We’ll first explore alternative teachers and schedules with you. If we’re unable to provide a viable option, you can choose a full Hello French credit or a refund.
Each private lesson is 60 minutes. If you’d like a longer session, you can book two consecutive lessons when your teacher’s schedule allows. We currently offer lessons in 60-minute increments.
The listed pricing is for one student.

Every student receives a personalized lesson recap and curated learning resources after each session. Your teacher may also suggest practice activities based on your goals and available time. Homework is optional unless you and your teacher decide otherwise.
Students who purchase a 4 or 8-lesson package receive a dedicated interactive learning page where lesson recaps, resources, and progress can stay organized in one place.
Single-lesson students receive their recap and resources separately. If you begin with a single lesson and later purchase a package, your private learning page will be created when your package begins.
Before your lessons begin
Please submit your Private Lessons Questionnaire within 7 days of purchase. Once we receive it, we’ll match you with a Hello French teacher and send your booking link within 10 days.
Single lesson: Your lesson must be completed within 14 days of receiving your teacher match.
4-lesson package: Your first lesson must be completed within 14 days of receiving your teacher match. All four lessons must then be completed within seven weeks of your first completed lesson.
8-lesson package: Your first lesson must be completed within 14 days of receiving your teacher match. All eight lessons must then be completed within twelve weeks of your first completed lesson.

Packages are not routinely extended. If an exceptional circumstance prevents you from completing your lessons within the validity period, contact classes@hellofrenchnyc.com before your package expires. Requests are reviewed individually and extensions cannot be guaranteed.
Yes. You can purchase another package through the same product page. Whenever possible, you’ll continue with the same teacher and keep using your existing private learning page, subject to your teacher’s availability.
Yes! The recipient will complete the questionnaire and be matched with a teacher before scheduling. Once a teacher has been assigned or the package has begun, the lessons are non-transferable.
Installment options may be available at checkout through Affirm, Shop Pay, or PayPal.
Availability and approval depend on the provider, customer location, and eligibility requirements.
