Learn French with a Method that Actually Works

Most people never learn how to think in French. That’s why they can understand the language and still freeze when it’s their turn to speak. We teach the part that changes that through conversation, culture, immersion, and pronunciation.

What Students Are Saying

– Claudia A.

I studied French for years, even spent a year in Paris, but couldn't hold a real conversation. What I loved about my small group class was the personal, friendly setting, with peers at a similar level who kept me motivated. My teacher went at the perfect pace and kept things interactive. The focus on practical, conversational French made the biggest difference. I'm looking forward to enrolling in the next level.

– Natalie S.

Before Hello French, I took private classes elsewhere and understood the grammar, but speaking still scared me. My teacher took the time to assess exactly what I needed and encouraged me to speak openly in French from day one. That's what finally got me past my biggest hurdle. The lessons are fun and immersive, and I finally feel confident speaking French. I highly recommend it to anyone starting their language journey.

– Zasha H.

I loved the beginner class, the tips and the speaking practice were what helped me most. The lesson plans take you slowly through the grammar, so you actually understand the thinking behind the rules instead of just memorizing them. The teachers are positive and never make you feel like you're not trying, even when you stumble on a sentence. I'm already looking forward to the next level.

– Tiffany S.

I tried learning French for years and nothing made it stick, until my Beginner 1 course with Hello French. The class is well structured and pushes you to actually speak, with real focus on pronunciation. My teacher was patient and created a welcoming space where you're not afraid to make mistakes, and my classmates were just as driven. I'm already counting down to the next level.

– Lauren P.

My teacher is an absolutely masterful French teacher. It's rare to find someone who makes online classes action packed, fun, and directly relevant to what you actually need. We didn't waste a minute. She equipped me with the basics, and helped me understand why I'd encounter variations in commonly taught pronunciation and sentence structure. I recommend her without hesitation. It was a blast.

This Is For You If

You've Never Learned A Word Of French

You Took It At School And Only Kept "Bonjour"

You Understand But Can't Speak Well

You've Been Stuck At The Same Level For Years

You Freeze The Second Someone Speaks To You

You Know French & Just Want To Speak More

SO WE BUILT A DIFFERENT WAY TO LEARN FRENCH

The Hello French Method

You don’t need more French to memorize. You need to learn the French you’ll actually use, while building the instinct and confidence to use it.

Speak real French

The language as it's spoken now

Learn the slang, rhythm, and expressions people actually use. The French you’ll hear in a café, in a film, or in a message from a friend. We teach the difference between formal and informal French, the idioms that don’t translate, and how spoken French often breaks its own written rules.

Fall in love with the culture

Understand the people, understand the language

Films, television, podcasts, books, music, recipes, current events, humor, creators, and the cultural references that make conversations make sense. Culture isn’t an extra at Hello French. It’s part of how you learn.

Speak so people understand you

Pronunciation taught properly

French is full of sounds English never asked you to make, and rules about when to use them that no textbook explains clearly. We teach both, phonetics and phonology, pronunciation and rhythm, so you can speak with real clarity.

Become yourself in French

The part most schools leave out

Speaking another language means discovering who you are in it. At first you may feel slower, less funny, less precise. We teach you through that stage until French starts to feel like another language you can be yourself in.

Sound like yourself. Feel like yourself. En Français.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE METHOD

Why It Works

Knowing French and using French are two different skills.

Knowing French gives you rules, vocabulary, conjugation, and grammar. You need them.
Using French relies on patterns, instinct, prediction, and automaticity. It’s what allows you to understand and respond without translating everything first.

Fluency develops when you train both.

IMPLICIT

Automaticity

Immersion doesn’t have to mean moving to Paris.

Input

Live classes, replays, homework, and weekly French cultural recommendations give your brain regular exposure to the language.

Engagement

Interactive exercises, vocabulary, listening, and teacher feedback help you notice how French actually works.

Connection

Films, music, food, humor, current events, and subjects you care about give the language context and meaning.

Production

Conversation, Speaking Lab, writing, and practice make you use what you’re learning until it becomes easier to access.

French is learned with people.

Apps and AI can give you endless exercises. Your Hello French teacher knows your name, hears how you speak, corrects your work, notices where you’re stuck, and expects to see you again next week.

You learn alongside real people who are figuring it out too.

FRENCH SHAPED AROUND YOU

Private Lessons

In our one on one lessons, a teacher trained in the Hello French method looks at where you actually are and where you want to go, then builds the lessons around that: the pronunciation that gives you trouble, the situations you keep finding yourself in, the specific things that make you hesitate. All at your own pace, on a schedule that works around your life.

Best If You

Are working toward something specific: a job, a move, a trip, an exam

Prefer to learn without a group

Are advanced and need attention on your French rather than on a curriculum

Have real time constraints and need a flexible schedule, not a fixed weekly slot

WHO YOU'RE LEARNING FROM

The person who built the method

I’m Cécilia. I grew up in France and moved to New York at eighteen with English that looked good on paper but disappeared the moment someone answered me.

For about two years, I said bitch every time I meant beach. I understood far more English than I could actually speak, and I kept wondering why.

I eventually realized that studying alone wasn’t enough. I needed to live with the language.

I watched films, listened to podcasts and music, read books, and paid attention to the way people actually spoke. I kept studying while surrounding myself with English every day and using it even when I felt uncomfortable. That combination changed everything.

That experience led me to study linguistics, Romance languages, and accent reduction. I’ve now spent the last fifteen years teaching French and building the method behind Hello French, alongside Marie-Lola, a fellow French teacher and the head of our teaching team.

Hello French grew from one question: How do we recreate that experience without asking someone to move to France?

That’s what this method is designed to do.
