Intermediate Conversation Group Classes
You know French. Now it’s time to use it. This 8-week live conversation course is for learners around the B1 to B2 level who want to speak French more naturally, more confidently, and more often.
Each week explores a new conversation theme, from food and travel to relationships, culture, current events, and everyday life. Before class, you’ll receive the week’s vocabulary and useful expressions so you can arrive ready to participate. During class, everything happens in French.
Rather than learning new grammar, you’ll strengthen what you already know by using it in real conversations, with guidance, corrections, and feedback from your teacher throughout each session.
Classes are taught live by one of our Hello French teachers in a small group.

How It Works
1️⃣ Take the French Level Test
Before booking, take our free French Level Test to confirm this is the right class for you. This conversation course is for learners around the B1 to B2 level, and the test helps ensure you’ll feel both comfortable and challenged.
2️⃣ Book your Intermediate Conversation Class
Complete your purchase to secure your place. Enrollment is confirmed once your booking is complete.
3️⃣ Receive your confirmation and welcome information
You'll receive an email confirming your enrollment and outlining your next steps.
4️⃣ Prepare for your first session
Before the course begins, you’ll receive your onboarding information, including your Zoom link, your first conversation theme, curated vocabulary, and useful expressions so you can arrive ready to participate.
5️⃣ Join your weekly live conversations
Meet your teacher and classmates on Zoom each week for 90 minutes of guided conversation entirely in French.
6️⃣ Keep learning between sessions
Use your private Google Classroom to review vocabulary, conversation prompts, session recaps, cultural resources, and recordings when available.
Booking Policies
Refunds and credits
Group course purchases are eligible for refunds or credits before the program start date according to the refund schedule outlined in our Lessons Terms & Conditions. Once the program has begun, all sales are final.
Attendance
Group lessons do not include make-up sessions for missed classes.
Recordings
When available, class recordings are provided for personal review and can be accessed through the Classroom portal.
Language of instruction
This course is conducted entirely in French. Students should have approximately a B1 level of French or higher to participate comfortably.
Instructor structure
Group courses are led by the instructors listed on this page. Instructor participation may change when necessary because of illness, emergencies, or operational requirements.
Content use
All course materials, recordings, and shared resources are proprietary and may not be copied, shared, or redistributed.
Conduct

Meet Your Teacher
Marie-Lola has been teaching French for more than 10 years, with experience at institutions including the Alliance Française and the French American School of New York.
Originally from the South of France, she holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in French Literature from the University of Toulouse, where her studies also included phonetics, grammar, and didactics.
She is a certified DELF examiner and has completed professional training in the International Baccalaureate program.
Marie-Lola also co-authored three French learning books with Cécilia Jourdan for Hello French, including a phonetics guide created to help learners understand and produce French pronunciation more accurately.
Her classes combine language, culture, curiosity, and conversation in an environment where students can ask questions, take risks, and build confidence speaking French.

No. This course is conducted in French. Most of our students are native English speakers, but the goal is full French immersion from the very first session.
Every class takes place live on Zoom. You’ll speak, listen, and interact with your teacher and classmates in real time every week.
Yes. Conversation is the focus of the course. Classes are designed so every student has regular opportunities to speak, ask questions, exchange ideas, and receive feedback throughout each session.
Before every class, you’ll receive the week’s conversation theme, curated vocabulary, and useful expressions through your Google Classroom. This gives you time to prepare your ideas and arrive ready to participate confidently.
This course is led by one of our trained Hello French teachers. Cécilia joins selected sessions focused on pronunciation and culture, and students also receive access to an exclusive Cécilia Drop-in or Masterclass during the course.
Live classes take place on Zoom, while your vocabulary lists, conversation prompts, session recaps, cultural resources, and available recordings are housed in your private Google Classroom.
Recordings are provided when available and added to your private Google Classroom for personal review. You’ll also have access to the week’s vocabulary, conversation prompts, whiteboards, and cultural resources.
